During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die. -Nelson Mandela April 20, 1964 Rivonia Trial
The main effort of arranging your life should be to progressively reduce the amount of time required to decently maintain yourself so that you can have all the time you want for reading. -Norman Rush
Apparently, if one's husband plays the harmonica to certain German Shepherds, they sing along by howling, and sometimes by jumping up and trying to remove the harmonica from said husband's mouth. It's a hilarious sight, and both Aislinn and I have been struck down by fits of the giggles!
It is a bloody good thing that dogs can't read. Especially dog-training manuals - if they read those, we'd all be doomed!
We went shopping yesterday and John brought the harmonica along - he really is unstoppable - and when our teenage daughter had wandered off and was nowhere to be seen, he summoned her by blowing a loud train-whistle on the harmonica. How to embarrass a teenager in public in one easy step! ROFL!!!! [But it sure did work; she was with us in seconds!]
